It doesn’t matter whether you already have a concrete idea or not. The Startup Weekend is the event for everyone who doesn’t want to leave their company founding to chance. Pitch possible ideas, find your team and build a marketable startup together. Connect with experts and business angels from a wide range of industries and become part of a globally unique community.

During the Startup Weekend, you and your team will have various experts at your side to support you with advice and assistance. Since we want to ensure that there are suitable specialists on site for you, it may take a little longer to put together the complete team of experts. However, we will continue to add to the list.
MAIN SPEAKER
Jean-Claude Biver is one of the few personalities who has undeniably influenced the history of Swiss watchmaking. After the revival of Blancpain – everyone remembers the now legendary slogan «There hasn’t been a Blancpain quartz watch since 1735. And there never will be» – he built the marketing of omega with the development of new and highly successful products and the hiring of prominent brand ambassadors such as Cindy Crawford and James Bond 007. In 2004 he took over Hublot , which he made an international success. Its strategy of “going where the potential customer is” made Hublot the first luxury brand to enter the world of football. In 2014, he was appointed President of the LVMH watch division and also headed TAG Heuer and Zenith . In 2023, he decided to create his own brand together with his son Pierre to share his experience and because “you never retire a passion”.
SPEAKERS
Facilitator
Marc Mächler ist Vorsteher des Finanzdepartements des Kantons St.Gallen und seit 2016 Mitglied des St.Galler Regierungsrats. Zuvor war er in verschiedenen Funktionen bei der UBS tätig. Mächler studierte Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der Universität St.Gallen.
Melanie Gabriel ist Unternehmerin, Vorstandsmitglied und Angel-Investorin. Sie ist Mitgründerin und ehemalige CMO von Yokoy, einem von Sequoia unterstützten FinTech- und KI-Unternehmen mit mehr als 200 Mitarbeitenden in sechs europäischen Ländern und Kunden weltweit. Sie ist Vorstandsmitglied von Moodtalk und hat verschiedene Beiratsmandate inne. Melanie hat einen Master-Abschluss in Betriebswirtschaftslehre von der Universität St. Gallen. Sie wurde in die Hall of Fame der 100 Digital Shapers der Schweiz aufgenommen und erhielt den HSG Founder of the Year Award 2023.
Réginald Bien-Aimé hat die letzten 10+ Jahre damit verbracht, Innovatoren und Unternehmer zu unterstützen, zu beraten, zu coachen, herauszufordern und ihnen die Möglichkeit zu geben, sich selbst zu verwirklichen. In den letzten 6 Jahren war er als Coach und jetzt als Moderator am Startup Weekend beteiligt. Sein Ziel ist es, dafür zu sorgen, dass Du an diesem Wochenende etwas zustande bringst und eine unvergessliche Erfahrung machst.
JURY
Bettina Hein ist Software Unternehmerin und hat bereits drei erfolgreiche Technologiefirmen gegründet. Sie ist derzeit Gründerin und CEO von juli, einer App, die Menschen hilft, ihre chronischen Krankheiten zu managen. Ausserdem sitzt sie seit 2019 als TV-Löwin, Business Angel und Investorin in der Jury der Schweizer Ausgabe von «Die Höhle der Löwen».
Dr. Paul E. Sevinç ist im Kanton St.Gallen aufgewachsen, wo er nach Lehr- und Wanderjahren in Austin, Lausanne und Zürich wieder lebt. Er ist der Co-Gründer und vormalige CTO der Doodle AG sowie ein Co-Initiator der Elohna GmbH (nun Teil der bexio AG) und der Ledgy AG. Heute amtet Paul als CTO der Squeng AG und als Verwaltungsrat u.a. der Galledia-Gruppe und des Switzerland Innovation Park Ost. Er entwickelt nach wie vor gerne Software.
Roger Thomet ist seit 2014 Mitglied des Stiftungsrates der Stiftung Startfeld und so im ständigen Austausch mit und fasziniert von Startup-Unternehmen. Er hat über 30 Jahre Erfahrung in der Finanzierung von Unternehmen gesammelt (im Banken- und Kapitalmarkt) und kennt die Herausforderungen beim Aufbau von Organisationen. Er leitet seit mehr als 10 Jahren den Markt Deutschschweiz der St. Galler Kantonalbank. Roger ist verheiratet und Vater zweier erwachsener Kinder mit Startup-Affinität.
MENTORS
Andreas Fischler studierte an der HSG, war Partner bei Namics und baute Frontify als CEO von 2 auf 100 Mitarbeitende auf. Neben popuppiazza.com baut er derzeit weitere neue Startups auf und unterstützt lokale Startups als Angel-Investor.
Anna Rosenkranz wurde erstmals während ihres Studiums an der Universität St. Gallen vom Startup-Fieber gepackt, als sie Teil des START Summit-Teams war. Nachdem sie eine Zeit lang in der Finanz- und Gesundheitsbranche tätig war, gründete sie 2020 das Schweizer Gesundheits-Startup Health Yourself mit.
Nach seinem Studium an der HSG arbeitete Dario Bühler acht Jahre lang als Sales & Marketing Manager in der Uhrenbranche. Zunächst für eine weltweit führende Marke von LVMH und anschliessend in einem kleineren Familienbetrieb, wo er erfolgreich den Aufbau einer Marke leitete. Aktuell befindet sich Dario im zweiten Kapitel seiner Karriere, wo er einen Business Podcast mit dem Namen «Schweizer Erfolg» betreibt und seine eigene Marketing Recruiting Agentur namens «Digitalmacher» gegründet hat. Neben seiner beruflichen Tätigkeit ist Dario stolzer Vater eines Sohnes und begeistert sich leidenschaftlich für Rennradfahren und Langlauf.
Maria Luisa Fuchs – Co-Leiterin des Bereichs Entrepreneurship & Innovation des Prorektorats für Innovation & Qualität der Universität St. Gallen. Unternehmerin und Verwaltungsrätin mit C-Level Managementerfahrung in Konsumgütern und Produktionsprozessen, internationale Erfahrung in verschiedenen Ländern und Moderatorin und Dozentin in verschiedenen Institutionen.
Dr. Martin Fengler ist Geschäftsführer der Meteomatics AG, die er 2012 in St.Gallen gegründet hat. Der Mathematiker und Wetterdatenexperte hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, Organisationen auf der ganzen Welt eine bessere Entscheidungsgrundlage auf Basis genauester Wetterdaten zu liefern. Fenglers Team besteht mittlerweile aus rund 125 Mitarbeitenden an fünf Standorten weltweit.
René Rossi ist Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung der Empa und Professor am Gesundheitsdepartement der ETH Zürich. Er engagiert sich bei verschiedenen Gremien zur Förderung von Innovation und Start-ups, unter anderem als Stiftungsrat bei der Stiftung Startfeld.
Thomas Addison ist der Gründer des SaaS-Unternehmens ServiceOcean, das KI und Verhaltenswissenschaft einsetzt, um die Leistung von Servicecentern (Callcentern) durch intelligentes Rückrufmanagement zu verbessern.
